RBC Insurance wants Couples to say 'I DO' to Travel Insurance
Destination weddings and honeymoons are a growing specialized market in the travel industry. About 16% of all couples are choosing to have a destination wedding - a 400% increase in the last 10 years. Travel insurance may not be an exciting detail for couples planning these special events, but it can be the most important element in terms of making sure they are prepared for the unexpected.
" Industry estimates show that couples who opt for destination weddings spend an average of $25,806 with 63 guests attending and since many travel and pre-paid wedding arrangements are often non-refundable, it's important that couples protect their investment," said Stan Seggie, president & CEO of travel insurance division of RBC insurance. "Cancellation and interruption insurance covers your client's investment in case they need to cancel or come home early due to situations such as the emergency medical condition of an immediate family member."
Since government health plans typically only cover a portion of out-of -country medical costs - which can be very expensive - this is an important part of travel insurance.
Travellers covered by RBC Insurance travel insurance who become injured or sick while travelling can access its medical emergency assistance team from anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. RBC Insurance customers also benefit from access to MEDIRECT network providers, including top tier hospitals, doctors and other medical service providers as well as PAY-ASSIST, which coordinates up front payment of covered medical services.
RBC travel insurance packages include protection for loss or damage to baggage and personal effects. Insurance protection for rental vehicles can also be purchased on stand alone basis.
